History Tour - April 3rd
Find out the history of Grove Farm and the surrounding area with local historian Dr Peter Hounsell's walking tour.
For many local residents Greenford is a residential area, but until the C20 it was an agricultural area growing hay for the London market, and then changing to dairying. At the same time from small beginnings with the opening of the William Perkin dyeworks in the 1850s, it also became an important industrial centre with the J. Lyons' Factory at its heart. Grove farm is a survivor from that agricultural past, but is also has links with local industry.
